Cleaning pencils from le Crayon André set ll
The famous le Crayon André cleaning pencils are specially designed for the professional cleaning of coins and objects and are designed so that their use does not affect the patina as much as possible. This set contains the following 3 pencils:
Fibreglass pencil for very fine cleaning / cleaning in difficult places of coins and objects. These fibreglass pencils do not splinter and do not pose any danger to health.
Pencil with steel wool (refillable) plus 6 additional refills. Used for even polishing. Extra refills can be ordered per 5.
Pencil - consisting of an ammalgamation of brass and steel combined with a special rubber and crystal compound. To remove stubborn dirt without damaging the patina.
Does the pencil become blunt? No problem, you can easily sharpen it with an ordinary pencil sharpener.
Do not sharpen a steel-wool pencil !!!! but pull out the filling a little bit each time (with a twisting movement). When the refill is finished, you can easily replace it. Look at the packaging.
Jar of citric acid 125 grams for cleaning silver / silver coins.
Put the coins in the citric acid bath for a few hours to a day, depending on the amount of dirt and the thickness of the oxidation crust.
Then brush with a soft brush (toothbrush cut off). If necessary, rub with chalk or bicarbonate of baking soda and then neutralize for 1 or 2 days in demineralized water and allow to dry.
Pot of baking soda for cleaning / rubbing silver coins.
Take some baking soda and rub the silver coin or silver object between thumb and index finger. Possibly make something wet. Perfect to remove the black tarnish (sulphur deposit) of the coin or silver object.
Liquid for cleaning plated coins / coins of billions / silver coins with tarnish.
Liquid for removing deposits and bringing the silver forward on plated coins and coins of billions.
Plated coins and coins of billon are always difficult to clean. Because citric acid or the soda method are sometimes too intense. With this liquid it goes a lot better without affecting the coin too much. Also works well for silver coins with an annoying tarnish such as iron rudder.
Leave the coin in the liquid for about 5-20 minutes.
Then rinse and dry.
Billon coins can sometimes turn a little red. Especially with very dirty coins or with a very high copper content. What helps is to erase the coin afterwards or put it in a silver bath and then rub it with a mint cloth.
Microcrystalline Wax For Preserving Metal
Microcrystalline wax is easy to process. Make sure that the surfaces to be treated are clean and dry.
Then apply sparingly with a soft cloth. After this the surface can be left matt, or polished for a shiny end result.
Protective Nitrile gloves (latex-free and unpowdered)
